Each November in Tuscany Italy, a special painting competition is held in Monte San Savino. TAG attended along with Alex Dos Santos – IG: @alexdoesminis – with the intention of handing out the award to the artist with the most evocative piece at the show. That artist was Pavel Michal with his very emotional piece, Shadow.

As you can see, it wasn’t only the TAG crew and Alex that thought the piece was excellent, it also won Best of Creativity, awarded by the judges of Monte San Savino an award that receives a custom trophy from the previous years Best of Creativity winner, in this case a beautiful customised pocket watch,
As well as a trophy, we gifted Pavel a set of our paints, a few months on, we asked him for a few words about his award winning piece and what he thought of Two Thin Coats.
At Monte San Savino Show 2024, I was honored to receive the Best of Creativity award for my small piece called Shadow. Additionally, I also received a special award for the best vignette from Trans Atlantis Games, which included a Two Thin Coats Wave 1 set. My emotionally moving storytelling project portrays an innocent and playful seal pup interacting with the cast shadow of a hunter. The hunter’s identity remains unknown, as the story is told solely through the shadow. From a technical point of view, the most challenging part was creating realistic shadows on highly textured snow.
After Monte San Savino Show, the first project that gave me the opportunity to try Two Thin Coats paints was a dwarf archer for the #OneEpicArmy project, created by @gabisflyingcolours. My imagination took me a bit away from the original forest dwarf concept, but the bow and arrows led me to the idea of the Dwarf of Love, Amore. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Wave 1 set—it provides excellent coverage with a smooth, pastel-like finish. The dropper bottles are also an improvement compared to other paint brands, and I was also pleased that they natively contain a mixing ball. I’m looking forward to experimenting more with these colors.
